Tuition assistance for Stone Lab students

Stone Lab Scholarships

Each year, Stone Lab awards nearly 40 scholarships to students and educators with financial need and superior academic records. Anyone taking a for-credit course is eligible to apply for scholarships ranging from $200 to $2,500 per application. In 2017, the average scholarship for a high school student was around $433, while undergraduate students were awarded an average of about $910.

Limited scholarship funds may still be available after the deadlines below. Interested students should contact the Stone Lab Columbus office for more information.

How Can I Apply?

Complete the online course application and indicate your interest in Stone Lab scholarships. You will be asked to upload supporting documents.

Undergraduate and graduate students:

  • Cover letter
  • College transcripts*
  • Two letters of recommendation from non-relatives who can speak to your academic success and work ethic. Recommendation letters should come directly from the author’s business email, be on organizational letterhead and emailed as a PDF attachment to*

*Students applying for both a scholarship and the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Scholarship Program need only submit one set of transcripts and recommendations.

High school students:

  • Cover letter
  • ALL high school students (whether or not they apply for a scholarship) must submit a recommendation letter attesting to the student’s academic abilities in biology or science and evaluating his or her maturity level. To apply, you must fill out this form in addition to your Stone Lab application by April 13, 2018. Priority will be given to those who apply by March 1, 2018.

Ottawa County Scholarships

Permanent residents of Ottawa County, Ohio — including high school students, college students and educators — are eligible to apply for this full scholarship, which is funded by a grant from the Ottawa County Community Foundation, an affiliate organization of the Toledo Community Foundation.
