Aquatic Bugs Don’t Bug Me!
Aquatic bugs don’t always look as you might think they should when they are young!
Come see examples of macroinvertebrates, small aquatic animals and the aquatic larval stages of insects like dragonflies, mayflies and beetles.
Program Location
Steele Memorial Bandstand and Gazebo (number 29 on the Lakeside Chautauqua map). Because the Gazebo is an outdoor venue, the Lake Erie Science program will be moved to the Pavilion East Deck (number 26) if rain is expected.
Once you are within the Lakeside Gates, you’ll turn left onto Maple Avenue and travel north until you reach the end and the lake is in front of you, then turn right/east toward the Bandstand.
Directions and a map of the Lakeside campus can be found on the Lakeside website. Once on the Marblehead Peninsula, be sure to follow the directions on this website and not GPS because during the Chautauqua Season, Lakeside is a gated community and only certain entrances are open.
A Chautauqua Pass is required for admission to Lakeside Chautauqua. A Partial Day Chautauqua Pass can be purchased for $8.00 to enter for 3 hours. A Daily Chautauqua Pass is $24.50/adult and $16.25/youth (ages 13-24) per day. Children ages 12 and under are free. Please review full admission rates and Chautauqua programs at lakesideohio.com/admission. Limited parking is available within the gates for $12.50 per day or the South Gate Parking Lot for $6.50 per day (complimentary shuttle service available).
