Rationale

The rationale for the international leadership development for coastal decision makers is as follows:

  1. Allow for the continued professional development of the Ohio Sea Grant Extension Agent in Toledo, Ohio specializing in community and economic development.
  2. Allow the agent in Toledo, Ohio to provide outreach and education in leadership development curriculum and methodologies to a wide array of professionals in the field of leadership development and coastal decision makers.
  3. To put the Ohio Sea Grant College Program on the forefront of research, outreach and education in the international professional and educational community.
  4. To strengthen the Ohio Sea Grant College Program in terms of providing vital scientific research related directly to the goals and objectives set forth in its strategic planning document.

Methodology

The Sea Grant Extension agent in Toledo, Ohio will make a professional, peer-reviewed presentation at the Hawaii International Conference on Education January 4-7, 2005. During the presentation, Ohio Sea Grant agent will teach respected leaders in the field of leadership development and education interactive models of research based leadership development with emphasis placed on measuring change in knowledge, attitude, skills and practice at the local government level.
