Fish, Fishing and Fisheries

Great Lakes fisheries are subject to pressures from natural population fluctuations, invasive species, commercial and recreational fishing interests, etc. Ohio Sea Grant is a frequent partner with agencies, academia, and private-sector interests to enhance fishing and understanding of Great Lakes fish populations and ecology. Our research has helped differentiate stocks based on genetics and microchemistry, quantify the value of steelhead angling in Ohio, demonstrate fish use of coastal habitats, and more. Ohio Sea Grant provides unbiased information to help manage resources amongst diverse users and facilitate discussion of issues that are often controversial.
