Objectives
To organize and promote a Great Lakes Forecasting System User's Workshop and to produce an interim and final report. The workshop is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, 22 September 1994 at the Radisson in Sandusky.
Rationale
The Great Lakes Forecasting System is now operational. The implementation phase is beginning as is the creation of forecasting systems for the other U.S. coasts. Continued federal funding for this project is contingent on determining who the audiences are for this type of forecasting system. The questionnaire and workshop will help identify current users and will help evaluate current distribution methods and products.
Methodology
Current users of the Great Lakes Forecasting System will be invited to participate in a user's workshop conducted by the system's designers, Drs. Bedford and Schwab. A letter, workshop registration form, and questionnaire will be mailed as soon as possible. (The information may be mailed a second time depending on the response to the first mailing.) An interim report will be prepared based on the questionnaire responses. A final report will synthesize comments during the workshop with the responses from the questionnaires.
