Abigail Comar is a Community Outreach Specialist with Ohio Sea Grant, based in the Lake County Extension Office. She works with communities in the Greater Cleveland area to address marine debris in Lake Erie. Her primary responsibilities include coordinating the use of trash removal technology by Beach and On-water Trash Trapping Tech Team for Lake Erie (Bottttle) project partners, directing the Plastic-Free Cleveland initiative and assisting at outreach events.
Abigail earned a B.S. in fisheries and wildlife and a B.A. in journalism from Michigan State University in 2023. She has prior experience in fisheries management, environmental journalism and human dimensions of wildlife research. Her areas of interest include community engagement, marine debris, conservation biology, science communication and environmental stewardship.
