Emily Burbacher serves as the LEARN and Curriculum Coordinator for the Ohio Sea Grant College Program and Stone Laboratory.
With more than 10 years working in aquatic research of Lake Erie and Ohio’s inland lakes and reservoirs, Emily coordinates the Lake Erie Area Research Network (LEARN) – a new consortium of Lake Erie researchers seeking an organized network to better share knowledge and resources.
As Curriculum Coordinator, she works with Stone Laboratory and The Ohio State University to set up the Stone Lab summer program and assists students with enrolling in their island learning experience.
She began her career in aquatic research at the Lake Erie Center, studying the genetics of the round goby invasion of the Great Lakes while earning her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Toledo. She then studied hybrid striped bass and modeled preferred habitat in inland Ohio lakes, earning her Master in Science at the Aquatic Ecology Lab of The Ohio State University.
When Emily is not in the office, she adventures around Ohio with her family, and works toward a Masters of Public Administration degree at Ohio State.
