Sara Guiher
Extension Educator, Harmful Algal Blooms and Water Quality, Ohio Sea Grant College Program
As Harmful Algal Bloom and Water Quality Specialist for Ohio Sea Grant, Sara works with researchers and communities to share current information on Lake Erie issues. Her programming focuses on increasing environmental literacy, communicating risks associated with harmful algal blooms, identifying research gaps, and engaging the next generation of scientists.

Sara has gained years of experience working with stakeholders throughout northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan on planning, outreach, and education for a wide range of water quality and environmental topics. She earned a B.S. in environmental science and an M.S. in biology with an ecology concentration from the University of Toledo. Sara grew up visiting Lake Erie and is excited to work towards a goal of improving and protecting this precious natural resource, which belongs to all of us.
