Ohio State’s Stone Lab Hosts 2015 Open House on Sept. 12

1:11 pm, Tue September 8, 2015 – The 17th Annual Friends of Stone Lab (FOSL) Open House will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2015

GIBRALTAR ISLAND, OH Have you ever been curious about the Lake Erie science that takes place at The Ohio State University’s Stone Lab in Put-in-Bay harbor? Do you want to take a peek inside Cooke Castle or peer down from Perry’s Lookout? Well, grab the opportunity at the 17th Annual Friends of Stone Lab (FOSL) Open House from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2015.

Activities at the Open House include:

  • Tours of Stone Laboratory
  • Tours of Gibraltar Island
  • Talks and laboratory sessions
  • Summer class information
  • Tours of the South Bass Island Lighthouse (transportation not provided)

“Our annual Open House is a great opportunity for visitors to Put-In-Bay to learn about our Lake Erie research on issues of concern to residents and tourists,” says Dr. Chris Winslow, interim director of Stone Laboratory. “Visitors also get the opportunity to be a scientist for a day and step back in time to learn about the history of the region while touring the historic Cooke Castle and South Bass Island Lighthouse.”

Free transportation will be available from the Stone Lab Research Building on South Bass Island to Gibraltar Island.
