Columbus Ohio Sea Grant is now accepting applications for the 2017-2018 Great Lakes Commission – Sea Grant Fellowship, based in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Fellow works with members of the Great Lakes science, policy and education communities to advance environmental quality and sustainable development goals of Great Lakes states.

The fellowship program is sponsored by the Great Lakes Commission, NOAA’s National Sea Grant College Program and the Great Lakes Sea Grant Network. Application materials are due to Ohio Sea Grant by January 27, 2017.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for graduate students to get exposure to critical issues within the Great Lakes and serves as an introduction to the complexity of these issues,” said Ohio Sea Grant Interim Director Dr. Christopher Winslow. “Further, this fellowship will expose students to the major players, relevant agencies, and policies that drive change in the region.”

The one-year fellowship runs June 1, 2017 through May 31, 2018, with negotiable start and end dates based on academic or other needs. The fellowship award consists of $36,000 in compensation and $6,000 for health insurance and fellowship-related travel. Additional funds may be available for travel compensation.

For detailed information about the program, visit the Great Lakes Commission website at glc.org/about/scholarships-fellowships.
