Tuition assistance for Stone Lab students

Due to COVID-19 all summer courses and the REU program have been canceled for 2021. We look forward to having students back in the future!

Stone Lab Scholarships

Each year, Stone Lab awards more than 80 scholarships to students and educators with financial need and superior academic records. Anyone taking a for-credit class (and some workshops) is eligible to apply. Last year, high school students were awarded about $550 on average and undergraduate students were awarded more than $700 on average.

How Can I Apply?

When completing the online course application, indicate in STEP 4 your interest in Stone Lab scholarships. You will be asked to upload supporting documents.

WHEN DO I SUBMIT: View deadlines below!

Undergraduate and graduate students:

  • Cover letter
  • College transcripts
  • Two completed recommendation forms from non-relatives who can speak to your academic success and work ethic. Recommendation forms should include the author’s business email.

Students applying for both a scholarship and the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Scholarship Program need only submit one set of transcripts and recommendations.

High school students:

  • Cover letter
  • ALL high school students (whether or not they apply for a scholarship) must submit a completed recommendation form (Available Dec. 1) attesting to the student’s academic abilities in biology or science and evaluating their maturity level. Recommendation forms should include the author’s business email.

TIP: Use your cover letter to address why you think the Stone Lab experience will impact your academic and career aspirations, to highlight your qualifications and to discuss your financial need.
