Description
Lake Erie Sport Fishing is an intensive workshop designed to give students a background in technical concepts used by experienced Lake Erie anglers. The course relies on actual fishing experience coupled with personal instruction provided while on the water. Walleye fishing will be the primary activity, although the course is flexible for other species including smallmouth, largemouth, white bass and yellow perch, depending upon fishing conditions.
This is a 3-day workshop, taught in-person at Gibraltar Island. All workshops are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to ensure a spot, but at a minimum of two weeks prior to the start date is required.
Instruction will provide background in:
- Gamefish behavior and seasonal movements
- Fishing strategies using specialized gear to improve lure presentations
- Recognition of gamefish feeding patterns
- Tackle and gear selection
All of which can help anglers bypass empty water and increase fishing effectiveness. Personal fishing gear is welcome but not required. A valid Ohio fishing license must be obtained prior to arrival and carried every day.
Workshop fee includes room and meals.
