Getting to Stone Lab
You will need to arrange transportation to South Bass Island. Join the Stone Lab Summer 2016 Facebook Group to coordinate with students who will be attending classes beginning on the same date as yours if you would like to set up a carpool.
To get to South Bass Island, you can take either the Miller Boat Line or Jet Express Ferry. Miller is an 18-minute trip and departs from Catawba Point to the southern tip of South Bass Island. Private vehicles may be taken to the island via this ferry, but delays are likely during tourist season (May-September). Jet Express provides 25-minute passenger-only service from Port Clinton and Sandusky to downtown Put-in-Bay.
For one-week and five-week class students, Island Transportation will only meet the Miller Ferry boats that depart from Catawba at noon and 1:30 p.m. There is no transportation provided from the Jet Express dock. If you choose to arrive at any other time, you will need to arrange your own transportation to the Stone Lab Research Dock. Workshop participants will need to arrange their own transportation from the Miller Ferry dock to the Research Dock.
