Columbus, OH The Ohio Sea Grant College Program has a new "Fish Lake Erie" license plate for sale through the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, with $15.00 of the total plate fee designated for Lake Erie research and scholarships. Applications forms are available online at: bmv.ohio.gov/vehicle_registration/fish_lake_erie.htm.
"We are pleased to offer Ohioans an easy way to support student scholars and Lake Erie researchers," says Dr. Jeff Reutter, Director of Ohio Sea Grant and Stone Laboratory. "These plates also benefit programs to enhance tourism on the north coast and to increase fishing participation and the sale of fishing licenses."
Stone Laboratory is The Ohio State University’s Island Campus on Lake Erie. Teachers, high school students, and college students take college credit courses at Stone Lab, the nation’s oldest freshwater biological field station. Annually, more than 5,500 students ages 9 through adult take aquatic science workshops and fieldtrips at Stone Lab.The Great Lakes Sea Grant Network is part of NOAA-National Sea Grant, a network of 30 Sea Grant programs dedicated to the protection and sustainable use of marine and Great Lakes resources.
