Ohio Sea Grant Extension is pleased to announce the addition of Colleen Wellington as its new Clean Marinas Coordinator.
"Colleen’s biological background will be helpful to Lake Erie marina owners and managers in not only achieving Ohio Clean Marina Certification, but also in developing new practices for improving water quality and marina aquatic life habitats," says Dave Kelch, Ohio Sea Grant Extension Specialist and Ohio Clean Marinas Program Administrator. "Her expertise will be important in teaching the impacts marinas have on the Lake Erie aquatic environment and how to reduce those impacts."
Colleen holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Allegheny College and a master’s degree in biology from the University of Toledo. Her experience with outreach includes work as an Intern with Pennsylvania Sea Grant, where she provided public education about the environment and wrote and taught lesson plans for students in grades 7-10.
