Columbus, OH Undergraduate and graduate students have until March 6, 2015 to apply for scholarships toward tuition at Stone Laboratory, The Ohio State University’s island campus on Lake Erie.
Stone Lab’s 25 one- and five-week science courses each summer are open to students from any university, and credits earned are transferable to most institutions.
All students in for-credit courses are eligible for tuition assistance. Scholarship amounts vary depending on applicants’ need and academic merit and range from $100 to $2,500 per student. College students taking a five-week class can also work at Stone Lab to cover room and meals; more information is available at stonelab.osu.edu/costs/jobs.
Students at Stone Lab study animals, plants and insects in their natural habitats. Stone Lab’s intensive courses with small class sizes are taught by some of the country’s leading researchers. Courses range from introductory classes to upper-level courses. Non-credit workshops are also available, as are courses geared specifically toward educators.
Scholarship applications for college students are due by 5 p.m. EST Friday, March 6. All applications, including high school scholarship applications, are due March 17.
A new system implemented this year allows applicants to submit their information via a secure online portal. Applications are available at stonelab.osu.edu/applynow.

Established in 1895, Stone Laboratory is the oldest freshwater biological field station in the United States and the center of Ohio State University’s teaching and research on Lake Erie.
