Columbus, OH Teachers, informal educators and education students are eligible to apply for scholarships toward tuition at Stone Laboratory, The Ohio State University’s island campus on Lake Erie.
Stone Lab holds 25 one- and five-week science courses each summer. The deadline for college students and teachers to submit scholarship applications is Friday, March 6, 2015.
Scholarship amounts vary depending on applicants’ need and academic merit, and range from $100 to $2,500 per student. College students taking a five-week class can also work at Stone Lab to cover room and meals; more information is available at stonelab.osu.edu/costs/jobs.
Five courses offered by The Ohio State University are specifically aimed at educators: ” Principles of Oceanography for Educators (June 14-20) ” Group Studies: Water and Wildlife Training for Educators (June 14-20) ” Great Lakes Research for Educators (July 26-August 1) ” Group Studies: Climate and Sustainability (July 26-August 1) ” Field Ecology (July 26-August 1)
Educators may apply for any of the other introductory or advanced classes offered by Ohio State at Stone Lab. Stone Lab students explore biology, ecology, limnology and more up close in the field.

In addition to Stone Lab scholarships, those taking Principles of Oceanography for Educators, Group Studies: Water and Wildlife Training for Educators and Great Lakes Research for Educators may apply for Alphyl Scholarships established by Dr. Vic Mayer.
