Ohio Sea Grant now accepting applications for new International Joint Commission Fellowship

COLUMBUS – Applications are open for the 2018-2019 International Joint Commission – Ohio Sea Grant Fellowship at the IJC Great Lakes Regional office located in Windsor, Ontario. The application deadline is February 23, 2018 at 5 p.m. EST.

One fellow will work full-time at the International Joint Commission Great Lakes Regional Office for one year from June 1, 2018 through May 31, 2019, focusing on international water policy and management issues in the Great Lakes. The Fellow will assist the IJC in its efforts to uphold the statements set forth by the 1909 Boundary Waters Treaty. The fellowship is for one year only and is non-renewable and non-deferrable.

“Graduate fellowships are an important part of the training process for students in these fields, and we’re happy to be able to offer another high-quality opportunity like this one,” said Ohio Sea Grant Director Dr. Chris Winslow.

Applicants must either be enrolled in a graduate or professional program in natural resources, public health, marine, coastal, Great Lakes or aquatic-related fields, or the international policy decisions that affect those fields at a U.S. accredited institution of higher education or be within three years of their original graduation date at a U.S. accredited institution of higher education. Applicants must have completed or are completing a master’s, doctoral or professional degree before February 10, 2018 to be eligible. . U.S. citizenship is not required.

The IJC-OHSG Fellowship award is a $47,500 stipend, with additional funds for fellowship-related travel activities and mandatory health benefits. Indirect costs are not allowable from the IJC funds either for the fellowship or for any costs associated with the fellowship. Ohio Sea Grant receives and administers the overall cooperative agreement on behalf of the fellow.
