GIBRALTAR ISLAND, OHIO Stone Lab, The Ohio State University’s island campus on Lake Erie, is offering a discount of 50% off its room and meals to all students taking summer semester courses on Gibraltar Island, as well as additional scholarships due March 28 for high school students, educators, and college (non-Ohio State) students.
Stone Lab’s courses and workshops offer college and high school students and educators a hands-on, interactive experience in several science-related topics, like aquatic biology, ecology, birds, and water quality management. Thanks to the generosity of donors, Stone Lab will be providing a 50% departmental discount on the room and meal fees of all students enrolled in for-credit Stone Lab courses for the Summer 2025 semester.
Available courses at Stone Lab include Ecology and Conservation of Birds, a one-week, two-credit hour introductory level course on using research and management to support bird conservation; Introduction to Spatial Information for Environment and Natural Resources, a four-week, three-credit advanced level course introducing students to using GIS, RS, and GPS for Environmental and Natural Resources management; and Introductory Insect Field Biology, a one-week, two-credit hour course on the behavior, ecology, and diversity of insects and their relatives. In addition, summer courses provide a 25% reduced tuition rate compared to Autumn and Spring semesters, and Stone Lab is offering additional scholarships due March 28 for high school students, educators, and non-Ohio State college students.
