Christopher Winslow, PhD., will host an informative webinar on the latest science in Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs).

HABs have been a focus of Ohio Sea Grant’s work since 1971, when the Center for Lake Erie Area Research (CLEAR) was formed. Today, Ohio Sea Grant’s efforts to reduce and prevent HABs range from the local to the international level, and from supporting policy makers to educating locals about HABs and their impacts.

Ohio Sea Grant is discussing harmful algal blooms and their impact on Lake Erie as part of an ongoing video series. In this video, we cover what harmful algal blooms are, what makes them harmful, when they typically occur, their impact throughout the lake and what you should know to be aware of a bloom. This project was partially funded by a Great Lakes HABs Collaboratory grant.
