Each Thursday in June and July, Stone Lab and Ohio Sea Grant will host guest speakers during its summer college course season. Topics will range from fish and wildlife ecology, natural history, and management of Lake Erie to natural resource policy issues relevant to coastal environments.
Audience members, including those joining online, will be able to ask the speaker questions at the end of the presentation. Presentations will be recorded and made available for free on the Ohio Sea Grant website.
Tonight’s presentation speaker is Ieva Roznere, Science Director of the Watters Aquatic Conservation Center in Ohio, which is jointly operated by The Ohio State University and the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. Research and conservation projects at the Center focus on native freshwater mussels, one of the most endangered groups of animals in the world.
This presentation will introduce people to the fascinating life cycle of these animals, the threats that have impacted populations through time and current conservation efforts.
