Ohio Phosphorus Task Force
 
The Ohio Phosphorus Task Force II has issued its final report on findings to support reduction of phosphorus loading and associated harmful algal blooms in Lake Erie and surrounding watersheds. The full report, including recommendations for future actions, is available online.
 
 
 
       
       
  NOAA Coastal Storms Program RFP
Ohio Sea Grant is requesting preproposals for one- to two-year projects related to Great Lakes coastal community storm hazard resiliency. Approximately $1,000,000 is available for projects during FY 2014-2016.
  Summer 2014 Stone Lab Courses Open
2014 summer science classes and workshops at Stone Laboratory have just opened to interested applicants. Courses get students out into the field and onto the lake to experience science first-hand while earning college credit.
  Webinar To Discuss Climate Change & HABs
The OSU Climate Change Outreach Team presents “Climate Change & Harmful Algal Blooms.” Dr. Richard Stumpf and Molly Woloszyn will discuss climate impacts on nutrient levels and HABs in the Great Lakes.
 
 
 
"Keep the Sea Free of Debris!" Art Contest
 
The NOAA Marine Debris Program's annual “Keep the Sea Free of Debris” Art Contest for grades K-8 is now open. Students can submit artwork from November 7th through December 19th. Winners of the contest will be featured in the 2015 marine debris calendar.
 
Great Lakes Commission-Sea Grant Fellowship
 
Applications are being accepted through Feb. 28, 2014, for the 2014-15 Great Lakes Commission-Sea Grant Fellowship, a one-year position based at the GLC office in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Sea Grant Fellow works with members of the Great Lakes science, policy and information/education communities to advance environmental quality and sustainable development goals of Great Lakes states.
 
Climate Curriculum Featured
 
Ohio Sea Grant's Great Lakes Climate Curriculum was included in the November 2013 issue of NOAA's Climate Connection newsletter. The curriculum helps middle and high school students draw connections between global climate change and what's happening in their own neighborhoods.
