Ohio's Marina Industry Business Retention & Expansion Initiative

The Ohio Marina Industry Business Retention and Expansion Initiative, a collaborative effort between the Ohio Marine Trades Association (OMTA), Ohio Department of Natural Resources Office of Coastal Management, Ohio State University Extension, and Ohio Sea Grant College Program, aimed to enhance the economic vitality of Ohio’s Lake Erie and inland lakes marina industry. This initiative focused on understanding the needs, challenges, and opportunities of marina business owners to foster growth, improve the business environment, and promote long-term sustainability. Through surveys, interviews, and stakeholder engagement, the program identified key strengths, barriers, and actionable strategies to support the industry, which contributes significantly to local economies, tourism, and job creation throughout Ohio
