When Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax was created, Lake Erie had a reputation for being polluted. But by 1985, the lake had recovered so much that two graduate students who were studying under Ohio Sea Grant’s education coordinator Dr. Rosanne Fortner wrote to Dr. Seuss to ask him to update his book.
